The Assembly Line Party, 4/19/10

I have an idea; What if I, we started a political party. Let's base it on this premise, "We're all in this together." Whether you're a Democrat, Republican, Independent, Libertarian or Tea Bagger, we can all agree on this. We are one country and we serve our country best when we can move past political infighting which creates stagnation and is not in anyones best interest.

The Assembly Line Party (ALP) will have as its foundation these ideals:

1. As a duly elected representative of our country, all office holders are "peoples lobbyest" and can not be beholden to any other interest. The interest of the people that have elected us are of paramount importance.

2. The right of every citizen to a fair and decent wage and the right to fair and decent health care are inalienable. That is not negotiable and must supercede any multinational interest.

That is a start. I have a much more comprehensive platform written, but lets not get ahead too far. I want to hear what you think.

  1. Only the best to you and your efforts to continue to be pro-active. With the help of so many others, you have the right ideas that can have real hope. I have witnessed how you and hundreds and hundreds of others come together and do what has never been done before !!! "The darkness changes many things. When the lights go out, they are not the same!" So, I hold my lit candle next to those who want to bring more light to see.

  4. AJ, Please consider adding the following to your party platform.

We Promise to fight to eradicate racism in every conceivable form, be it sexual, racial or religious.

    Reasoning:
Over the years I have come to believe that many of metro Detroit's economic problems are associated with racism. Metro Detroit is THE most racially segregated metropolitan area in the US. Back in the 40's & 50's the real estate agents used the "young black mother with stroller" tactic in Detroit with higher success rates than many other cities. The "white flight" of that era produced a legacy of hate that still guides the politics of today. I have visited many, many other cities in our country and we are very bad. Additionally, I believe this racial status quot is difficult for us to see because we were born here and it is all we have known since birth. I do however believe the problem is obvious to outsiders and likely prevents many businesses and industries from coming here to do business. DL

  5. Very good Doug, and I agree.
OI base my reasoning on the political assumption that much of the discourse between people has come from generations of polarization. This is just not effective, nor in line with any rational behavior.

Moreso, the government has to be , as I say, the "peoples lobbyist" and the will of people, in all political idoelogical spectrums, does not see any benefits from seperation of people based on discrimination of anything or anyone.
Sometimes, government leads best by example. This is, after all, the way it should be.

I have to get to the bottom of why posts aren't appearing. Maybe its new, or maybe it's me! I'll work on getting these discussions on the blog so others can weigh in as well.!!
Kindest regards and no, I still need a rest!
I go to Mackinaw in a couple of weeks at a Governors conference. Hopefully, I rest th

  6. AJ,

In 1988 a small gang of us created the Workers Against Concessions Party and ran candidates for various state and local offices.
The American political scene desperately needs a party that is strictly and only dedicated to the welfare of all of us who need to work for a living.
I can tell you from experience, the legal and financial and manpower challenges will be extreme. The regular parties don't like competition.

  7. Yes Larry, I see storm clouds! The real power is at the grass-roots level, ultimately. Without the masses, or without a contented society, everything breaks down. Case in point is where we are today with so much of what is going on in the political and corporate realms. I think it's time to begin a real dialouge and make some intellegent discussions that will propel the Assembly Line Party into mainstream thinking. I have some ideas on moving forward. It'll take a movement that has much larger legs than mine alone!
