Today's thought 4/20/10

Here is a thought.
A capitalist society such as we have in the United States is effective when the cycle of consumer to producer, producer to consumer is running, well like an assembly line.

Hypothetical: Jane works on the line at a domestic, Detroit auto maker at the Hamtramyk , Michigan plant. She loves her job and is a loyal employee. She, her husband, her friends, her neighbors and so on all support Jane by way of purchasing vehicles from where she works. It is simple. She produces, she and her network of friends and family consume.

But the auto maker decides that it is less expensive to take Jane's production job here in Detroit and move it to a plant in Mexico, where labor is cheaper. Jane's job, and those of the rest of her co-workers, are phased out.

Jane is sad, disgruntled and angry. She, along with her family and friends are not only displaced, they pull out of the producer to consumer cycle that has been the engine of success for the auto company, as well as Jane and, extending even further, her community.

A relative short term savings in labor cost with the auto companies decision has now become a frieght train of lost sales, lest the newly formed employee sector in Mexico is prepaed and willing to become the replacement.

This is happening all over the country.

"We're all in this together."

FIX:
Outside multinational decisions with regard to labor can only be negotiated when we are domestically at FULL EMPLOYMENT. Under full employent domestiocally, these agreements can be made on a ONE YEAR LEASE , with options for renewal, based on DOMESTIC FULL EMPLOYMENT.

  1. Good idea starting a political party.

Since I'm at work and I have very little time today I will keep this brief.

Please consider adding the following to your party platform.

We Promise to fight to eradicate racism in every conceivable form, be it sexual, racial or religious.

    My reasoning:
Over the years I have come to believe that many of metro Detroits economic problems are associated with racism. Metro Detroit is THE most racially segregated metropolitan area in the US. Back in the 40's & 50's the real estate agents used the "young black mother with stroller" tactic in Detroit with higher success rates than any other city. The white flight of that era produced a legacy of hate that still guides the politics of "Suburbs vs. Detroit." I have visited many, many other cities in our country and this is as bad as it gets. I believe this racial status quot is difficult for us to see because we were born here and it is all we have known. I do believe the problem is obvious to outsiders and likely prevents many businesses and industries from coming here to do business.

    Let me know your thoughts,

  3. Very good Doug, and I agree.
I base my reasoning on the political assumption that much of the discourse between people has come from generations of polarization. This is just not effective, nor in line with any rational behavior.

Moreso, the government has to be , as I say, the "peoples lobbyist" and the will of people, in all political idoelogical spectrums, does not see any benefits from seperation of people based on discrimination of anything or anyone.
Sometimes, government leads best by example. This is, after all, the way it should be.

I have to get to the bottom of why posts aren't appearing. Maybe its new, or maybe it's me! I'll work on getting these discussions on the blog so others can weigh in as well.!!
Kindest regards and no, I still need a rest!
I go to Mackinaw in a couple of weeks at a Governors conference. Hopefully, I rest th
